Customising an IPL Hair Removal Device: OEM, ODM and Private-Label Options
IPL is one of the few beauty categories where optical customisation is genuinely worth the cost. What can be changed on an existing platform, what forces re-certification, and how long each route takes.
Customising an IPL device is a different exercise from customising an LED mask. The energy path is regulated more tightly, the lamp and filter are the core of the product, and a change to either one resets safety testing. Knowing which requests sit either side of that line saves months of schedule.
Below the line: housing colour and finish, handle shape within the existing tooling, button layout, display language, treatment schedule content, packaging, accessories and conductive gel formulation. These can all be delivered on a certified platform, usually inside a normal production lead time.
Above the line: lamp type, filter band, window size, fluence levels and cooling architecture. Each of these changes the optical and thermal profile, which means fresh safety testing and, in some markets, a new filing. They are worth doing for a range you intend to run for years, not for a first order.
The middle ground is firmware, and it is the most underused option. Energy step curves, skin-tone interlock thresholds, auto-flash cadence and session counters can all be tailored without touching the optics, which gives a product a distinct feel at negligible tooling cost.
Aolemon runs OEM and private-label programmes on its IPL platforms from Hangzhou and will say honestly which requests can ship inside a standard lead time. Bring the market and the volume, and we will map the changes onto what is realistic.
