Customising a Photon Beauty Device: OEM, ODM and Private-Label Options
Customising a light-based beauty device is less about the shell colour than about the optical stack behind it. A practical breakdown of what can be changed, what should not be, and what each change costs.
Most customisation requests for photon beauty devices arrive as a colour swatch and a logo file. The changes that decide whether the product succeeds are the ones behind the front panel, and they are worth discussing before the artwork is finalised rather than after.
Cosmetic customisation is cheap and fast: housing colour, soft-touch finish, button layout, gift box, manual and accessory set. A private-label programme can be running within weeks on an existing certified platform, and for most first orders that is the right place to start.
Optical customisation costs more and moves more slowly. Changing the wavelength band means new filters and fresh safety testing. Raising fluence may require a larger capacitor bank, which changes the enclosure and invalidates existing approvals. These changes are genuinely worth doing, but they belong in the second or third order rather than the first.
The most underused option is firmware. Flash sequencing, energy step curves, session timers and skin-tone safety interlocks are all software, and they can differentiate a product meaningfully at almost no tooling cost. Ask what the existing platform already supports before paying for new hardware.
